What Form 130 is not

A sudden spike in searches always brings a wave of forwards along with it. Here's what's actually true.

The big one

No, it isn't a ₹12 lakh tax loophole

MISLEADING

Messages claiming Form 130 lets you legally avoid paying tax on income up to ₹12 lakh spread widely in 2026. There's no such exemption form, and the Income Tax Department hasn't introduced anything of that nature. The claim is either a misunderstanding of how existing deductions and rebates work, or a piece of deliberately misleading content.

Form 130 is only the renamed, restructured version of Form 16 — a certificate confirming TDS was deducted and deposited. It has no bearing on your tax rate, your exemption limit, or your rebate eligibility.
